Paula Fabulous In Louis Verdad & Dior

This spring we saw some of fashion’s biggest, boldest and loudest trends on the catwalk. With electric colour, graphic prints, maxi lengths and bright white were some of the key looks to emerge this season. One of the biggest trends we saw was the Colour Block from Gucci. Paula stepped out on stage in a mix of hot pink, red and cobalt blue from designer Louis Verdad for a maximum glamorous impact with blue patent pumps from Christian Dior that made viewers eyes pop.  Los Angeles designer Louis Verdad returned to the fashion scene for the first time this year in two years. Known for sexy tailoring which earned him a reputation with the likes of other celebs most notably Madonna and Cate Blanchett when he first burst on the fashion scene nearly a decade ago. His spring/summer 2012 collection that Paula selected to wear was a mix of everything I love about fashion – glamour, sophistication, bold, colour and sexy shapes. This look is a loud and proud colour combination for Paula and makes for a dynamic and confident look on the final show. This is a look that gained a mixed reaction from fans and viewers some loving and recognizing the fashion forward bold look while others were surprised at her choice and thought the outfit was slightly overkill and’ try hard’. I love the hot pink silk top against Paula’s skin tone and hair colour and love the combo of red and pink together with statement jewelled earrings which is hot. I thought she looked amazing as she stepped out on stage and loved that she was trying something new and bang on trend. I’m not mad on the front slit on the skirt with the aqua fabric and matching Dior shoes, I would have stuck with red but that’s a small detail and completely subjective. Overall I prefer the black mesh dress on Paula but adore Louis Verdad as a massive talent and can see why Paula wore this outfit on the final rather than the black. What do you think? Do you love or hate the colour block trend on Paula?

Paula Wows in Alexander Mcqueen Mesh

As you all may know the mesh trend is still around in fashion and is as cool as ever. In the 90’s this was made popular by Adezzine Alaia, in the 2000’s American Apparel paved the way on the high-street for a range of colourful mesh bodysuits that combined sports lux with a sexy urban clubbing look. Mesh is still hot for Fall / Winter 2011 with a range of celebrities wearing the trend and on the last night of final performances, Paula did not disappoint looking phenomenally sexy to the max in a long Alexander Mcqueen black mesh flesh halter-neck dress. I absolutely love this look on Paula and it could rate as my favourite yet as the design and the style of the dress oozes understated but confident party glamour. I’m always slightly nervous when she wears long dresses but there’s something about mesh inserts that evoke a daring but mysterious vibe and I like it! It’s a subtle but sexy way to show some skin with a high fashion vibe and Paula looks sensational. She teamed this look with gold accessories including a dramatic statement piece gold Giuseppe Zanotti cuff bracelet which accentuated her outfit and makes her stand out in the style stakes. Paula finished off the look and cranked up the glamour with long loose half up hair that looks effortless and fresh. Overall I love mesh on Paula. Subtle sexiness and it works! What are your thoughts on the mesh trend? Love or hate?

Going For Gold: Golden Girl Paula Shines

Wow, was anyone actually able to concentrate on the show the other night? It seemed all eyes were firmly fixed on Paula as she stormed the stage in another fabulously out of this fashion world sexy Nanaz Couture design.  And while the headlines may all be about who will win The X Factor, Paula reclaimed the limelight in a teeny-tiny (and supremely tight) metallic gold and silver lace dress by Nanaz Couture.  Her now staple long glossy curls were half up half down paired with long lashes, long earrings and a nude lip provided the finishing touches. I love seeing Paula wearing gold and silver together which also happens to be nice and festive for this time of year. I sat down with the lovely designer Nanaz and she told me that ” it’s very difficult to find gold and silver woven together so beautifully. So when I found that in a lace, I knew it was going to be something special for Paula. I lined the dress with a silver lining, so the silver colour would stand out. This was to do justice to it, next to gold.’’  As the final approaches it’s hard to see how Paula will beat this look. What do you think? How do you rate Paula’s metallic mini? Comment below.

Paula Fires Up The Runway Once Again In Red

Paula sparkled on The X Factor stage last night and I think she must be listening to me as it looks like she’s really enjoyed using and embracing the stage as her runway! I’m making it official that from now on the stage is Paula’s runway to showcase a range of fabulous looks – any ideas what this show should be called? This week Paula wore a stunning asymmetrical one shoulder sparkly jeweled cuff mini dress which showed off her amazing figure. She followed my lead and selected to wear red again, totally rocking the shiny one shoulder dress that not only screams The X Factor but is currently the hottest trend to wear this season from New York to Milan with fun party dresses from Gucci, Lanvin and Diane von Furstenberg. Fashion is having a code red for fall, with head-to-toe crimson looks firing the runways. Red is the color of anger, passion, fire and love which seems to be a pretty good description of Paula on the X Factor so it’s a great match. Last week I said Paula looked last Jessica Rabbit meets a Sexy Santrass in red this week she is working the 1970s disco sex-bomb look. A look this strong evokes passion, sophistication, and power. Paula choose to get the head-to-toe look with coordinating red lacquer nails and scored the pièce de résistance: spicy red stilettos. Paula finished off the look with loads of flowing hair (loved) and gold hoop earrings (perfect) Result a show stopping look and one of my favourite yet. Paula Embraces Ochre Yellow On Kimmel

What do Jimmy Kimmel and Paula’s dress have in common? They are both acid! The judges were all on Jimmy Kimmel live this week and looked slightly shocked and bemused throughout the whole interview at Jimmy’s line of questioning. Paula selected to wear one of her own dresses for the appearance following the trend for neon and ochre yellow that have ruled the runway and have been seen all over the red carpet. The ochre yellow style trend has managed to popularize vibrating outfits that are paired with funky accessories seen on the runways of great designers such as Lanvin Michael Kors (a fav of Paula’s), Salvatore Ferragamo as well as one of my all-time favourite designers Matthew Williamson. Wearing bright colours requires some confidence and they look best on olive tones like Paula’s. Paula paired her sleeveless wing dress with patent black Louboutin heels and a black feather jewelled choker (a similar style above) which resulted in a slightly sexy rock chic aura. She completed her look with ochre yellow eye shadow and black liner as well as a half up wavy hair style and large jewelled earrings. Is this look a hit or a miss?

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: NANAZ HATAMI

Nanaz Hatami is the Founder and inspiration behind Nanaz Couture. She benefits from a rich background in the fine arts of Persia, complementing that with the modern fashion of the west and putting her talents to work as a designer from her experiences around the world. Positioned between haute couture and ready-to-wear Nanaz can create any fabulous creation you desire. Straight Up Style sat down with the  hot designer making waves in Hollywood to discuss design, fashion, making dresses for Paula Abdul and much more …

What made you want to become a fashion designer? I originally took a degree in fine arts and one of my subjects was fabric design.  I really enjoyed that and after that, moved more toward what you can do with fabric and took an interest in designing.

What time of day are you most creative? Late at night.  That is when I do most of my sketches.

What inspires you to design the wedding dresses and eveningwear you do? My older sister was a dress designer for many years and she used to design gowns for many diplomats and political figures in Washington including Mrs. Carpenter (President Nixon’s secretary).  I started out her, and I was originally inspired from there.  As for today, I see inspiration in everything.  Everyday objects that are random for most people, will give me ideas for shapes and different fabrics that I design.

What do you most love about being a designer? Creating something new every day.  There is nothing I would rather do.

You must be ecstatic that Paula Abdul wore one of your designs on The X Factor the other night (pic above) how did that occur? Her stylist Kayla who I had worked with before, asked me if I wanted to present my designs to Paula.  I sent her two designs and she loved both of them.

Is she as tiny as she looks on the television?  She has a gorgeous slim figure.  Perfect to work with.

Did you have free rein to design what you liked for her or did you get given a brief? I had free reign and I chose what to design specially for her.

I loved the bold graphic print of the dress, what made you design this style of dress for Paula? I am very particular about the fabrics I source.  That particular one was beautifully hand beaded and when I saw it, I immediately thought of Paula.

If you had to describe Paula’s style in three words what would that be? Classic, elegant and simple.

Did you know she was going to wear your dress on the night or was it a total surprise? She called me that same afternoon and told me she is wearing my dress herself and was such a special moment for me. It was so nice of her to do that.

What were your feelings when you saw her in one of your designs? Proud…very very proud.

Fill in this blank. Nanaz  Hatami designs make me feel …. special

If you were to design Paula’s finale dress on The X Factor what would that look like? I would design something fitted long and full

What’s next for you? This is an exciting start for me and I look forward to expanding showcasing more of my work for people to see.

Paula Takes Graphic Measures In Nanaz Couture

Paula brushed off the cold in this season’s moody, full-spectrum graphic floral blooms. Spring’s favorite print in fashion is still dramatically around for the Winter season in monochrome-contrast palettes and large-scale patterns. Spotted all over the Fall 2011 and Resort 2012 runways,  think Jil Sander, Erdem, Celine, Givenchy, Mary Katrantzou, and more, these gorgeous blooms aren’t your grandma’s ditsy floral’s,  these prints are bold, dramatic and ultra-sexy. Paula selected to wear a fabulous dramatic body hugging monochrome Nanaz Couture design for the results show and looked blooming marvellous. This design boldly took everything that I loved in floral summer dresses and created a striking, whimsical winter wonder. This Nanaz couture design for Paula is alluring, eye catching and the striking rose flower print and the simple shape and cut of the dress on her is gorgeous and very modern with the black and white mash up. Get voting and let me know your thoughts on this look? Does it have The X Factor? Watch this space as I have an exclusive interview coming soon with Nanaz on all things fashion, Paula and design.

Paula Sizzles In A LRD That Marks The Spot

Of course everyone’s favourite go to the LBD is not going anywhere anytime soon, but it’s time to make way for a new kid in town: the little red dress. Every woman needs a little red dress in her winter wardrobe. Paula continued her fabulous fashion parade that is her US X Factor wardrobe with an absolute stunner of an outfit that stole the style limelight in a marvellous short red cute mini with a whirl of vivacity channelling Jessica Rabbit meets a Sexy Santrass!  I think this is my absolutely favourite look  Paula has worn yet and has a similar style of an Ani Lee or Preen dress about it. Paula looked beyond gorgeous when she strutted out of the X Factor doors and the playful frock with a bouncy pleated skirt is as cute as a cupcake, making it the perfect match for Paula’s personality on the show. Anyone else see a hint of Cheryl in this look also? But of course, it’s not all about the dress, because Paula added her own twist with a pair of flashy platform pumps, gold pearl necklace and dainty drop earrings. Like the clothes we’re craving this winter, the best hair comes in bold shapes and the brightest shades. The new trends for 2011 focus very heavily on glamour and Paula’s hair made a big glamorous impact – it’s a glossy Jessica Rabbit but with a modern twist. Credit to Ken Paves @kenpaves or her glam squad for this. Get voting and let me know whether this latest offering by Paula is a win or an exit? She has my vote.

Paula Takes A Walk On The Wild Side In Makowsky

Miaow, pussycat! Paula was one fierce (or fearless) judge this week on X Factor and what better style of dress for her to wear than a sexy style leopard print mini dress by Christina Makowsky who is fast becoming one of the most well know names in Hollywood. Paula wore a metallic, fringed mini dress with gold and black all over leopard print with matching cropped jacket.  Animal prints seem to never go out of style or popularity in fashion and Paula is definitely a fan of the print as selects to wear it quite a bit with Dolce Gabbana & Robeto Cavalli being favourites. For fall/winter 2011, leopard print is still on the fashionrunways and has been the most seen print on the catwalks from total looks, to overcoats, dresses and footwear. In this look Paula proved she had plenty of animal magnetism in this mini dress which hugged her body and showed off her curves. The result is an edgy yet effortlessly cool purr-fect result! Fierce!

Paula Wears Feather Frock Trend in Givenchy

The autumn/winter  catwalks may be loaded with enough different looks and themes to satisfy almost any sort of style desire, the fashionable crowd invariably flocks to just a few select trends. Right now, feather still is the word, and we’re seeing of-the-moment feathered details on a wide range of designer dresses.  Paula is leading the trend with this flirty looking Givenchy white halter dress with black feather skirt very style appropriate for Michael Jackson week on The US X Factor retailing at 745 GBP or 1,202 USD.  Paula’s obviously a big fan of this dress as she first wore it for her Emmy magazine fashion shoot earlier this year whilst promoting the X Factor. I love this look on her as she reminds me of a sassy ballerina with attitude! I’ve always been a fan of feathers, especially feather dresses as they look super cute especially if you have a tiny frame like Paula the halter-neck style of dress works sensationally if you want all eyes on you. This monochrome fun fashion statement is perfect for the Christmas party season and can be found all over the high street. She finished off the look with smoky eyes and her statement loose flowy hair but this week there was a little more height to her hairstyle. What do you think of Paula’s look? Is it X Factor red stage ready? This is a hit for me.

Paula Dazzled in Jean Fares Couture 2012

Paula dazzled on the X Factor in a gown by international leading high-end fashion designer Jean Fares Couture. The floor length gown adorned with sequin gold and silver stripes was a perfect choice for the dramatic results show. The gold sequin dress has become a firm red-carpet favorite with celebrities and has become a big trend for A/W11. Paula’s a big fan of Jean Fares Couture designs and has worn a similar Jean Fares Couture style silver sequin one shoulder mini dress with a diagonal pattern when she attended the InterContinental Make-A-Wish Ball in Miami in November 2010 where she matched both her shoes and her clutch to her dress to complete her look. You might also remember Paula wearing his fabulous hot pink flower mini dress design to the American Idol Finale. Paula finished off the look with a bronzed glow which complimented the golden, silver gown perfectly with gold glitter eye shadow and her hair in a cute pony tail which make for a fresh change.

Paula Sparkles in Sherri Hill’s 2012 Collection

The Glam Squad are working overtime with this look as Paula hits another style hit in this diva-licious cocktail dress from her new favourite choice of designer Sherri Hill (@SherriHill) This sexy beaded mini from their 2012 collection has an ultra-low sweetheart cut bodice with reflective chunky mirrored embellishments that creates a shimmery effect on television under the studio lights. The skirt is slightly stretchy and also features reflective material to create a dazzling embellishment that makes Paula the centre of attention when she steps out on stage. I love the sexy, fun feel of this dress and the colour is a smart choice which really shows off her exotic looks to full effect. The dress is fashion forward, sassy with some attitude and has a Versace (@Versace) feel which is perfect for Paula. This dress can be brought for 698 USD or 450 GBP online and is a great investment for the Christmas party season. Paula finished her look with nude tights, Louboutin heels and glossy, sexy wavy hair. When  it works it works and Paula  is blowing everyone else out of the water with her amazing looks – her X Factor continues!

Paula is Picture Perfect in Sherri Hill @ The Grove

It was a celebratory night for Paula as Lakoda Rayne (@LakodaRayne) sang and danced into the next round of The X Factor with much excitement and relief. Paula looked beyond gorgeous in a couture bejewelled encrusted corset body with deep cranberry slashed train from the ultra-glamorous brand Sherri Hill (@SherriHill) which showed at New York Fashion Week this year on Kendall Jenner (@KendallJenner) This was Paula’s most revealing and daring look yet and I am in love with it – she looks paparazzi perfect and is making a fierce fashion statement! Paula showed off her best asserts with the strapless nude encrusted basque which any day Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) will be stealing back from her and bared her entire leg as she conjured up an exotic, sensual Arabian look between two of Disney’s hottest princesses; Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame & Jasmine from Aladdin! Paula finished off the look with Christian Louboutin’s sky-scraping Ambertina 6″ heels from two seasons back which match Paula’s dress perfectly. They can still be brought from Louboutin stores if you are hurry for 585 GBP or 949 USD. When you look this good and have a body this toned this is exactly the kind of dress Paula should be wearing to make sure all eyes are on her – just ask a certain Elizabeth Hurley who has proved this style concept time and time again with this exact style of dress with Versace (@Versace) Paula’s hair is longer than usually and is perfect with her princess look and I hope she sticks to it as it really suits the shape of her face. Paula has X rated factor style with this look and everyone loved it.

Paula Wears Isabel Marant Tartan Trousers

Paula goes for a edgy, high fashion look here wearing one of my favourite designers Isabel Marant. Paula’s wearing Marant’s punk inspired tartan pants retailing at 235 GBP or 370 USD and are totally the cool-girl’s way to work this season’s return to retro. What I love about these pants are they look effortlessly chic by wearing them with a simple tee and black jacket. Paula’s finished off the look with black pants, ankle boots and a feline flick of black mascara and eyeliner. There’s a girly touch here with a black bow hairband to softer the look and still stay very ‘Paula’. Her hair is loose and easy which matches the laid back concept of this overall look. Prizes for who can guess what her top says? and it’s not WAG! ;)

Paula Shows Off Her Ruthie Davis Fetish (Again!)

Today we find out if the last of the groups, the beautiful and stylish Lakoda Rayne @LakodaRayne  will make it through to next week’s show. Paula and the girls mean business as they show off some seriously fierce footwork backstage as they lark around!  Paula showed off her sensational spiked Ruthie Davis Rockit Pumps in black patent leather and a 5.5” heel. These fierce heels are embellished with studs and bolts, look amazing and are exquisite in every way when worn with black matt tight, hot pants and a simple leather jacket. The whole look is sassy, unique and daringly bold. Credit to fab  June Ambrose @juneAmbrose  for the third pic.

Straight Up Style Has The X Factor in MACS Mag

I was interviewed for the latest issue of MACS magazine where I talked about Straight Up Stye, X Factor and all things Paula. See below for a sample of the article and click on the link below for the whole piece. Hope you enjoy!

Katy Scarlet Taylor is a successful international freelance Fashion Stylist based in London.  She has been the official stylist for the EMA MTV Awards VIP After Party for the last four years, Stylist to the stars, worked for  various glossy magazines among them Vogue and is the Head Stylist for superstar party planners, Quintessentially Events. She rates style over fashion, loves skinny leather & PVC trousers, dancing till sunrise, ice in her drinks and neon – especially pink!

Katy has recently started a successful blog called ‘Straight Up Style’ which is a fashion diary of all Paula Abdul’s style choices leading up and through the US X Factor, showing on ITV2 Thursday & Friday night’s at 8pm. You can find out what Paula is wearing, where you can buy it, style tips and how to recreate her looks. MACS Magazine’s Editor Corrina Mccann sat down with Katy over a Mojito (or two!) at Soho House to talk fashion, style secrets, X Factor & all things Paula.

You’ve just come back from The EMA MTV Awards what was that like? Amazing! The MTV team did a fabulous job and it was a wicked ceremony and after party. I’ve never experienced anything like Bieber mania in my life. There were girls screaming every time anyone exited the hotel and for Belfast it was a huge deal after all the problems there it was so nice to have something positive to focus on. MTV did an awesome after party with several differently styled up rooms from a neon planet space to a futuristic area. All the stars came to the after party from Katy Perry to Jessie J who both danced along to Katy B’s live set. I didn’t get in until late that’s all I’ll say!

What made you want to become a Fashion Stylist? When I was growing up I always loved women’s magazines and dressing up so I think it stemmed from there. I didn’t go to Fashion College like a lot of people do instead I did an English degree followed by a M.A. My first proper job was as a Sport’s Journalist which people never believe when I tell them. After that I wrote a lot about women and identity and got into styling when I first started working on women’s magazines.

What made you start your blog Straight Up Style? Firstly, I thought it was a great idea and I kind of promised myself if Paula got the gig on the US X Factor I would start the blog. I’ve been watching the show in the UK for years and know how important fashion becomes especially among the female judges on the show with the public. Everyone is fascinated to see what they step out wearing and who they are wearing and who looks better! I thought the same thing would happen in the U.S and I liked the idea of the blog coming from a professional fashion stylist’s opinion, incorporating a high fashion look and of course I love Paula – she’s fabulous to watch. I think Simon Cowell once called her ‘TV gold’ and he’s so right, she’s hysterical! As a stylist she’s absolutely gorgeous looking and reminds me of a very tiny, exotic Barbie doll – and I mean that in the best possible way!

Behind The Scenes: Paula Strikes A Pose For For Viva

Paula looked looked absolutely stunning on the set of her Viva Magazine photo shoot, she glammed it up by wearing a few different outfits. I can’t think of a better place to have this video so enjoy!

Red Alert As Paula’s Dress Takes Centre Stage

It was a big night on The X Factor for Paula with her acts in the red. She was also in the red but for far more stylish reasons. Talk about red hot as Paula made a fiery entrance in a glamorous Rachel Gilbert scarlet one shoulder gown retailing at 740 GBP or 1,178 USD from net a porter. It wasn’t a big trend on the Spring 2012 catwalks but at the 2011 Emmy Awards, there were more scarlet dresses than you could count. Paula finished off her look with diamond drop earrings and matching red lips as seen on the catwalk from Valentino to really pack a modern fashion punch. The red dress and the red lips combo are absolutely on fire right now and it works on women of every possible coloring and it’s equally as glam in all cases.  Paula also paired her red lips with a highlighted cheeked look to warm her already mocha skin and glow. Paula choose to revert back to old Hollywood with a very glamorous side chignon but made it modern by having a textured chignon as seen at Karl Lagerfeld Spring 2010 show. What do you think? Do you love this uber-glam look on Paula?

Paula Dazzles With The Stars in Midnight Blue

As seen on the catwalks of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Burberry Prorsum, and Oscar de la Renta, midnight blue is taking over. Paula followed this trend and sparkled and glittered on last night’s X Factor in a midnight blue beaded Aidan Mattox twilight inspired dress. The glitzy dress has sheer sleeves and graphic all over beading retails at 270 USD or 138 GBP from Saks Fifth Avenue among others and is a complete steal in my opinion – a perfect party dress this season. Midnight blue and silver go beautifully together and this is my favourite look Paula has worn on the live shows so far. The dress fits Paula in all the right places and she has had it taken up to make the dress a super mini to show off her legs. She finished the look with triple drop dark earrings from Ippolita from the Wonderland collection retailing from neimanmarcus.com at 925 USD or 575 GBP (she also wore these on Jimmy Kimmel) and gunmetal patent heels. Her hair is PERFECT! Sexy, chic and sophisticated just three of the words I would use to describe Paula’s look and I’m lovin it!

Paula Wears Bright, Bold & Beautiful Maxi Dress

Bright colours are this season’s hottest fashion trend, with the catwalks being full of bright vivid prints and colours. Paula wore a stunning floor length bold and bright backless jeweled maxi dress with flowing silk material for the results show last night pairing with high gold platform heels. The maxi dress is detailed with silver jeweled embellishment underneath the bust area and around the top of the halter neck area. Paula’s dress has the style of a Jovani dress retailing at just under 500 USD or 312 GBP. This style of dress can be tricky to pull off with the burst of conflicting tropical coloures, strong print and jeweled embellishment but on the right person with brunette hair and olive skin like Paula it can look amazing.  This is the second time Paula has worn this dress as she was first photographed in it for Viva magazine (see previous post) where I suspect she was given it following the shoot. It’s not my favorite dress she has worn so far and I think it actually looks better on television and probably in person than it does in print because it is so busy to the eye. If Paula wanted to wear this style of dress which uses a batik technique (a process of decorating cloth cloth by covering a part of it with a coat of wax and then dyeing the cloth) I would have liked to have seen her styled in one of the above Matthew Williamson designs. She would look amazing in all four of these dresses and I just feel the cut, style and colour are beautiful & effortlessly fresh and sexy. Her hair was back to its longer locks with side bangs and for me that was my favorite part of the overall look. What do you think? Is this look a hit?

Sequins & Sparkles As Paula Reign’s Supreme

Purple reigns supreme on the fall runways. From Ralph & Russo, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace to Gucci and every designer in between, the regal color Purple took over. Paula stole the stage on the second live show of The X Factor strutting in wearing a super short purple embellished mini dress that screamed exotic barbarella glamour. Her look drew inspiration from the Versace catwalk pairing her purple embellished dress with black muted tights to let the sparkle take centre stage. She finished off the look with boots again, this time calf length platform boots to show off her long legs similar to the red pair she wore at boot camp. This is not the first time Paula’s selected to wear regal Purple choosing it for the very first round of X Factor auditions in Los Angles then wearing an Yves Saint Laurent silk redux dress and matching heels and earrings.  I love this purple embellished dress on her. The dress shows off her body perfectly and she looks glowing. Her hair looks slightly shorter and more of a sweeping fringe has been cut in. Myself, I prefer it slightly longer and loose as it feels sexier and sassier. Either way she’s a drop dead diva! She’s got the look and at the moment she’s right out in front and everyone is loving it.

For Paula The Thigh’s The Limit on X Factor

As the first X Factor Live Show kicked off the other night, the judges made their entrance – and what an entrance it was! Paula went all out to impress in the fashion stakes strutting on stage in next season’s must haves and last seen by me at all the autumn/winter fashion shows. From Hermes and Prada, to Hussein Chalayan and Stella McCartney, thigh-high boots were the look on the catwalks! Paula obviously loves this trend as you may remember her recently wearing a pair of skin-tight suede ones from Alexander McQueen on the Jimmy Kimmel show? This time she caused a stir braving a pair of black PVC thigh-high boots that Antonio Berardi made popular. These boots are not for wearing if you want to blend into the background and on the first live show Paula made sure the attention was on her. Now the question is what to team with them? Paula looked fabulous in a strappy silver and nude ‘warrior’ embellished mini dress in the style of Collette Dinnigan, Mandalay, Balmain & Kaufmanfranco. She styled her dress with matching statement diamond earrings, and a large statement diamond ring. Her dazzling look was finished with light smoky eye makeup, a long wavy hair style, and a glossy nude lip shade. Are you a fan of this look? Let me know your thoughts and what you think Paula will choose to wear next!

Paula ‘The Pressures of Looking Perfect’

Paula uses her fav promotional shot in Life & Style to talk about the pressures of looking perfect in the entertainment industry this week.  This is the same LBD she wore on her series ‘Live To Dance’ and was shot by Fox for a number of promotional purposes for The X Factor. Pairing her flapper style mini with chunky black platform heels and a chunky gold & black necklace I don’t think Paula has to be worrying about her appearance anytime soon.  However as a Fashion Stylist and someone very much in the industry she has a great point. This unnatural thinness of models and many people in the industry is a terrible message to send out. The promotion of the thin, sexy ideal in our culture has created a situation where the majority of girls and women don’t like their body which is really sad. Trust me most editorial images and all an illusion and women come in lots of different sizes and shapes, and we should encourage and celebrate that – being happy is the most important thing.

Paula Does Rock’n’Glam With Tux Luxe

If you were one of the doubters who thought that the boyfriend  jacket was going to be one of those here today, gone tomorrow early fall fads, looks like you were wrong as itr’s still as popular and cool as ever. Paula gave a fresh feel to this autumn’s tailoring with a slick white cropped tuxedo jacket with shoulder pads made famous by YSL & Balmain (& one of my fav pieces to wear) with oversized black sunglasses for an ultra-cool look. I love this look on her! She paired the jacket and balanced the look out with a cute black & gold strapless (which she prefers) houndstooth wool dress as seen at Chloe and chic black suede ankle boots. I know I keep saying this but the hair is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S & shouldn’t be changed! Overall the look’s a little Rock n Glam mixed with a little Breakfast at Tiffany’s which isn’t half bad!

Recreate Paula’s Look on Jimmy Kimmel

Did you love Paula’s fierce look on Jimmy Kimmel last night? You can recreate Paulas look with this fab leopard print dress by Alice by Temperley at 195 GBP or 304 USD  paired with these black suede thigh length boots from Charlotte Russo  a total steal at 45.50 GBP  or 71 USD . What are you waiting for?!

Paula Wears Louboutin Suede Thigh High Boots

Paula was on the Jimmy Kimmel show live last night and turned up looking fierce in one of her favourite shoe designers Christian Louboutin. Choosing to wear sleek black suede thigh high boots from Louboutin’s Fall 2010 collection which sold out fast and retailed at over 1,500 GBP or  2,343 USD. These super sexy boots have a 4.5 inch heel and a hidden platform to help you walk just that little bit easier when strutting down your catwalk. These boots are perfect for Paula making a bold and dramatic entrance on Kimmel and I love the fact they are ‘in your face’ sexy but at the same time exude chic style and timeless sophistication.  Paula paired her Louboutin boots with a purple-grey leopard print jersey tunic dress in the style of another one of her favourite designers to wear Roberto Cavalli’s Spring / Summer 2011 collection. This leopard print dress is a statement making style look and is perfect with black tights, long black boots and chandelier earrings.  Paula finished off her fierce look with wild, untamed, curly lioness locks worn long and loose and was a huge trend in the 1980s and has made a huge comeback on the catwalk this season. Overall this is a bold, in your face confident look and I’m lovin it!

The Tangerine Twist Trend & Paula’s at Bootcamp

I’ve nearly made it through all the Spring 2012 runway shows and trends have been boldly presented themselves.  Shades of orange have been popping up all over the runways in daywear, evening wear and ready to wear. Multiple shades including pastel tangerine and blood orange offer a variety of options for all skin tones. Last night Paula choose to add some zest into her wardrobe and into bootcamp during a tough round with a pop of hot orange and vivid yellow one sleeve shirt channelling the designer Carlos Miele’s collection which used an array of oranges and yellows. Later on Paula switched to the dark side of fashion in a form fitting satin mini with cap sleeves and though it was bootcamp decided on a fetish inspired black patent Lady Daf Loboutin heels retailing at 688 GBP or 1,100 USD – totally fabulous!  What’s starting to really stand out lately is Paula’s hair, chocolate inspired with subtle golden sun kissed streaks, long and tousled and with big dark eye make-up is becoming a statement piece for her!

Ruthie Davis has The X Factor

Like me, if you’ve been looking on enviously at Paula Abdul’s shoes recently for the X Factor auditions then you may like to know Paula’s fave footwear choice ….

On more than one occasion Paula has been seen out in the most fabulous heels from one of my favorite designers, Ruthie Davis. I have been starring at her website longingly and simply adore every fierce and bold pair she designs!

Ruthie’s shoes are truly heroine heels made to empower a woman every time she puts a pair on. Her obsession with shoes can be traced back to the age of two when she tried on her first pair of red patent leather mary-janes. Ruthie loved them so much she wore them right out of the store and, according to her mother, to bed that night!

Since that moment Ruthie’s love-affair with shoes has transformed into designing some of the most sought after shoes in the world. Celebrities from Paula Abdul to Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and many more of the world’s biggest superstars all have her shoes in their closets.

Ruthie has certainly proved she has The X Factor not only for designing footwear for a host of stars but like Paula Abdul, but she has become an inspiring mentor and promoter of ‘woman power’. As a woman running her own business, Ruthie is an inspiration to all women all over the world, someone who is taking risks and going after her dreams. This week I spoke to the very lovely Ruthie Davis about her X Factor killer style …

Ruthie, what do you think it is about shoes that are so empowering and emboldening?

On a very basic level, a little extra height is always a beautiful, confident thing… and a beautiful shoe is the foundation of the house that is a strong woman. To me, strength and confidence is beauty.

Which are your favourite pair of ‘Hero’ shoes, the ones that make you feel you can run the world, and give you that X-Factor?

My favorite pair of Hero shoes right now are my Black Microcompact Booties… When I put those on, I feel like I’m automatically transformed into a Bond Girl. Sexy and unstoppable.

Fill in this blank – Ruthie Davis shoes make me feel….

“10 feet tall…”

If you were designing some couture shoes for Paula, what would they be like, and why?

They’d be high heels with a lot of accoutrements, Swarovski crystals, glitter, studs… Sexy with sporty elements, like Paula. Perhaps, a high glam, yet girlie peep toe… Maybe a Mary-Jane in rose gold with studs and a strap in hot pink stingray.

Who was your mentor / inspiration?

I’ve looked up to many people in my life… But, as a shoe designer, I’m not sure I have a role model, as I always feel as if I’m navigating new territory. I think part of being a good designer is jumping off that creative cliff on your own…But, I’m always inspired by all the girls who wear my shoes, whoever they may be… They inspire me and, hopefully, I inspire them.

Style Up Paula: Emilio Pucci Spring 2012

I fell in love when I saw the Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2012 collection! There were standout pieces including floor-length skirts and crop tops – perfect for a sunny Sunday evening by the pool or a day’s shopping with big glamorous sunglasses. This collection is also perfect for the Kylie’s & the Paula’s of the world with super-hot cocktail dresses to party the night away or wear to an interview or even on The X Factor! I particularly  can see Paula wearing both of the above as she’s super tiny and can get away with wearing short-short mini’s and the colour of gold against her skin would look amazing.  For the rest of us it’s time to hit the gym to wear this collection – HARD!

Paula Wears Split Skirt Trend 2011 On Ellen

Split skirts are well and truly in fashion. After several recurrent seasons of sexed up micro mini’s, lead particularly by the va va voom styles of some of my favourite designers Balmain and Herve Leger which Paula has been wearing. It’s now time for a new wave of seduction skirts to find their way onto the red carpets, into wardrobes and into Paula’s X Factor promotional wardrobe. The high split skirt has become a big trend for 2011 with a host of models and celebrities choosing to show more than a hint of leg. Paula choose a floaty foil mermaid style halterneck maxi dress with a dangerously high split for her appearance on the Ellen show last week. This dress had a breezy style in a mix of striped orange, pink and gold fabrics that catch the light with the movement and flow of this dress. Paula paired the dress with a skinny belt round the middle and a stack of jewellery – you could hear her bracelets clunking as she moved her arms! Overall a great, L.A resort style loom for 2011.

Style Up Paula: D & G & Marie-Helene de Taillac

Where do I start to say how much I adore this metallic-green & paillette-embellished dress by Dolce & Gabbana retailing at 1,790 USD or  1,160 GBP. For me it is the epitome of Italian glamour and could there not be a better dress this season to sparkle and shimmer in? I’d love to see Paula rockin this look and how perfect for disco week on The X Factor? This dress needs very little adornment but I can’t help but keep the electric fun going with this colour-clash bold pair of hot pink eaarings by Marie-Helene de Taillac set in 20-karat matte gold retailing at 21, 843 USD or 14, 130 GBP to really finish off the perfect party look.  Paula should wear her tumbling brunette locks down in a wavy free-flowing style and go for a sexy smoky eye and pale lips for her make-up. One word – HOT!

Steal Paula’s Look High Street Style!

Paula rocked up to promote The X Factor on David Letterman the other night in a sexy, corset jumpsuit which gave her a classy yet seductive look. Paula added a flash of colour to the black outfit with a gold chunky necklace. The jumpsuit is well and truly back on the fashion radar with A-list celebrities  and fashionistas embracing the all in one styling. This is a great look to hit the town with and really easy to wear when your dancing the night away. I found this amazing pleated black jumpsuit featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline from asos.com retailing in the sale 69 USD or 45 GBP. Finish off with a chunky gold necklace and your ready to party!

Style Up Paula: Isabel Marant & Miu Miu

I’m a big fan of Isabel Marant and her laid back edgy designs. I’d love to see Paula in this black lace ‘Nelcie’ mini dress retailing at 3,277 or 2,120 GBP which has a darkly romantic feel embelished with in trend fringing and beads.  I love to see her stick to this solid color without extra fuss and is very sexy and body-conscious. To complete this luxe look Paula should contrast with these new season Miu Miu plum suede geometric platform sandlesretailing at 687 USD or 445 GBP which will add an opulent retro-inspired edge to the Isabel Marant dress.  The overall look is very free and easy and should be worn with simple, clean, sharp black eyeliner & loose just got out of bed hair. It’s a Wow look!

Paula’s a Lady in Red in New York City

Paula was out about doing press yesterday in the big apple and was looking and feeling feline! Wearing her hair long and sleek with a red top and skinny black trousers paired with those Versace shoe boots again she stroll the streets talking to the press after a successful night of X Factor. Every girl needs a big pair of black sunglasses when they are out and about famous or not and Paula’s are a great fit that ooze the right amount of glamour. She finished off her look with a fabulous in trend leopard chain print handbag. Overall look young, fashionable and fierce!

Paula Wears Anuja Tolia & Versace

Paula wears one of Anuja Tolia’s beautiful wrap rings on Regis & Kelly the other day and a pair of black gold button up nappa low boots by Versace retailing at $1,280 (€950) from luisaviaroma.com. I love these boots are they are perfect if you need a bit of height with a 55mm external platform!

Paula Wears Prada & Versace at Regis & Kelly

Paula does my job for me and tells you what’s she wearing today!  A buzz-worthy trend to look out for this season is again stripes. Yes it has been around for ages, but this season stripes are back with a bang as Paula shows us in her cute, mini Prada dress. It was seen dominating the spring runways this year and on a range of magazine covers. Prada’s much applauded collection of the season is all about stripes; from flamenco skirts to loud-colored dresses as well as graphic shirts and wedges. Countless looks from the collection have graced at least 15 magazine covers so far and has now filtred down to the high street! See Paula’s dress on the Milan Spring / Summer 2011 catwalk here below:

Paula Wears Simeen at The Emmy’s 2011

Paula goes 3D for E – check her out!

Paula Cause Ruffles at The Emmy Awards 2011

Paula attended The Emmy’s, one of showbiz’s biggest events of the year the other night wearing one of the biggest trends of the night – ruffles! Paula showed off a ruffled midnight-blue number fron designer Simeen, with crystal embellishment around the waist. I thought Paula’s hair, make-up and jewellery by Martin Katz was fantastic and the colour of the dress really suited her skintone.  However overall (though it pains me to say it) I’m not a huge fan of this dress on Paula, the top looks slightly too big for her and is slightly lopsided. What do you guys think? It also does remind me of a dress she wore to The Alma awards a couple of years back which like this dress had a strapless top and a spanish flamenco skirt. Though I much prefer Paula in this  Simeen design, compared to the Balmain dress she wore to The X Factor premier it doesn’t match up. I’m also not a huge fan when styling an outfit in matching your dress to your handbag it looks to styled and matchy for me! I would have loved to have seen Paula in one of the below dresses by Alexander McQueen (5,985 GBP), or Temperley (625 GBP)

Paula Hearts Ruthie Davis & Balmain

Paula choose Balmain’s navy, gold, and silver striped sequined silk dress with attached gold chain necklace retailing at 14, 615 USD or 9,255 GBP to wow fans at The X Factor premier last night. This gorgeous dress has a round neck, structured shoulders, attached internal shoulder pads, three-quarter length sleeves, chain detail along stripes, chain detail at inside of cuffs and hem and an exposed zip fastening at back. Paula teamed Balmain’s sequin-showered dress with sky-high gold Ruthie Davis Spikette Delux stilettos retailing at 1, 395 USD  or 833 GBP for maximum party impact. LOVE!

Paula in Balmain at The X Factor Premier

Who run the world? Girls!! Paula showed everyone who was the STAR of the show last night at The X Factor premier – looking fabulous and I’m pleased to say she took my advice by wearing my fav designer Balmain. Paula’s blue and gold striped sequin mini retails at a whopping 14, 615 USD or 9,255 GBP and is from Balmain’s Fall Winter 2011/12. I loved the dress on the runway and Paula has done it proud as it’s a perfect choice for her body and this event. She paired her dress with perhaps the world’s best and most fierce platform pumps by Ruthie Davis from her Spikette Delux collection retailing at 1, 395 USD  or 833 GBP. Now that’s how it’s done – GORGEOUS!

Paula Abdul at the Fox Fall Eco Casino Sep 2011

Paula took inspiration from Balmain’s Resort 2012 collection and Christopher Kane by wearing a white leather studded yoke necklace for the press call at the Fox Fall Casino launch. paired with a smart cape / black tux. What’s most striking about her look however is her hair and make-up which really stands out. As sweet and rich as the dessert it’s named after, cocoa brown is Hollywood’s colour of choice when it comes to making a serious statement. Paula has chosen the right shade of luscious dark cocoa chocolate brown hair with a few thin streaks of caramel colouring to frame her face. The look is finished off with added hair extensions to add volume and length. Love!

Paula Wears Naven & David Yurman for People

Paula stickes to American brands again for the inside of People magazine promoting the US X Factor. Her show stopping, cute party dress is by L.A based brand Naven retailing at 235 GBP or 374 USD from their spring/summer 2011 collection and it has already sold out. Paula looks super cute in this short sleeve dress that still cleverly has a bit of structure and pretty puff ball skirt. What you can’t see in these photos is the back of the dress which is really sexy with a low back and a hidden zipper. The overall look is so girly and the coloures and luxurious silk fabric are to die for! Alejandro Ingelmo was asked to design a shoe collection for Chris Benz, and the result was a combination of the two designers distinct styles which Paula shocases in these photos. This collection itself is great, and I really like every single pair, especially the floral oxfords! To finish off the look Paula wears jewellery from David Yurman. Her long petite pave diamond bead earrings retail at 784 GBP or 1,250.00 USD and her Dy Elements bracelet retails at 1, 637.00 GBP or 2,600.00 USD. Overall this is a really youthful, cute look and she looks radiant. Check out Naven’s catwalk show in L.A with some fabulous dresses that would look HOT on Paula.

Paula Wears Chris Benz for People Magazine

Paula pops up in People magazine this week and goes all out American with her main feature piece wearing a colouful orange jacket from Chris Benz Resort 2012 collection. The whole look has a youthful American spirit about it paired with a Karl Lagerfeld’s blue top for Macey’s. Lagerfeld  has designed an affordable women’s fashion line comprising of a collection of basic elements a woman should play with in her wardrobe so get down to the store to see Paula’s look! Paula shows us she can do high-street too as her shorts are from top British fashion store TOPSHOP. Her long wavy hair with sweeping fringe follows one of the hottest trends this year when it comes to hair styles creating a stylish, healthy, sexier look that flat.  The overall look a bang on autumnal look.

Style Up Paula: Dolce & Gabbana & Just Cavalli

I’d love to see Paula in this white viberant two-tone jersey tuxedo jacket by Just Cavalli retailing at 440 GBP or 698 USD. White is a huge trend this season and stands out when you have exotic features and looks great with gold accessories. I think this is a fab, sharply tailored coverup and would add a modern edge to a party look for Paula or an appearance on a chat show while promoting The X Factor.  I’d pair it with these amazing  sequin-sprayed pants (I’ve just brought!) by Dolce & Gabbana retailing at 245 GBP or 389 USD for a fearless, cool, super sexy outfit that screams a very modern sense of style and very fashion forward. These pants would look fantastic on Paula as she has the legs to wear tight embellished trousers. Pair with a simple white vest top and sky high black heels and very messy curly hair and smokey hight = HOT!

Paula Strikes Some Moves Behind the Scenes

Paula show off  some Beyonce style moves as she poses for the behind the scenes X  Factor photo shoot!

Buy Paula’s Michael Kors Bodysuit & Trousers

Celebrating three decades in the industry this year, Michael Kors is relied upon for sophisticated, city-ready designs, like this sleek hammered-satin bodysuit Paula wore at the FOX afterparty which you can  now buy from Harrods. Emulate Paula and the Fall/Winter 11 runway styling and team this nude, sexy piece with a tonal pair of trousers, accenting the understated palette with a black patent belt. You can buy this bodysuit for 450 GBP or 895 USD. Paula also wore Michael Kors straight leg trousers that night for 599 GBP or 960 USD.

Paula Makes a Guest Appearance in Interview

I’ve been sent several copies of Interview magazine which features a surprise appearance by Paula in Balmain. Posing with Simon in a stylish black and white photo shoot and photographed by Aldo Rossi.

Behind the Scenes with Viva Magazine

I thought it would be fun to show you guys behind the scenes of Paula’s fashion shoot as she got glamed up for Viva magazine. Loving the fact her Lady Daf Louboutin heels are getting another outing! You can check out the whole artickes with all the pics at http://www.vivamagonline.com/coverstories.php?year=2011&month=09

Paula Inside Viva Magazine

It’s leopard mania these days going into the autumn season. Even Paula is digging the roar-ific print. In Viva magazine, she’s pictured wearing a cool leopard print jacket, a casual turquoise shirt, and tight fitting skinny trousers. Notice the string pearl necklace and pearl accessories classic Chanel! Paula is showcasing the perfect example of why I love leopard print — just a leopard print jacket thrown over basics and the look is instantly cooler. The jacket is a must-have piece for Fall and can be found all over the high-street. In Paula’s second look she takes inspiration from Matthew Williamson batik technique (a process of decorating cloth cloth by covering a part of it with a coat of wax and then dyeing the cloth) printed silk-chiffon maxi dressses.  The overall look is very L.A and works best if you have exotic looks. Paula looks great in chiffons and can pull off something flowy, I’d have chosen this Matthew Williamson dress from his Spring/Sumer 11 collection which incorporates the same look and coloures but is slightly mored edgy and fashion forward. What do you think?

Paula Hits the Cover of Viva Magazine

Paula serves up a short navy satin dress with classic, clean lines for the cover of Viva magazine. I love that she is sticking to a deep, solid colour which is also sexy and body-conscious, rather than overdoing the accessories and choosing smokey but simple make -up. It’s great to see Paula in a on trend navy satin dress with a low-cut v neckline and something very fitted at the waist which is really flattering on her. Again a very different look to The Hollywood Reporter cover – which do you prefer? Hot pink and sexy or Midnight blue and girly?

Giveaway: Paula on The Hollywood Reporter

Look out for Interview magazine and US GQ giveaways very soon!  Thank you for your support and kind comments so far.

Paula on The Hollywood Reporter, Sep 2011

The final results of the shoot are out and Paula graces the cover of The Hollywood Reporter looking glam wearing a hot pink dress with her hair in loose curls. Paula looks sultry and confident as she poses with the rest of the cast, but it’s behind the scenes footage in the video below where you see her stunning luminosity and natural sexiness come through. I’m just gonna say she looks amazing and from a fashion point of view she’s getting it sooooo right at the moment.

Paula HEARTS the Hot Pink Trend

Colour trends are as fickle as hem lengths on the catwalks, but there’s nothing like a shocking, unexpected ‘It Colour’ to get us thinking about our wardrobes in a whole new exciting way. If I could only wear one shade this summer, it would most definitely be hot pink—it has hot in its name for a reason! It seems Paula thinks the same as it’s been one of her favourite colours to wear since 2009 when the trend really took off on the catwalk from designers such as Michael Kors, Marchesa, Preen and Oscar de la Renta. The key to making hot pink work is to follow Paula’s rules and keep everything simple. Like her don’t pick a dress that has too much embellishment, stick to simple fabrics with minimal aesthetics. Apart from the colour there are  other similarities between the dresses Paula has chosen – they are all super short mini’s, a smart choice when you look like a little doll,  she likes dresses that are strapless and tends to keep her hair long and wavy. Love, love, love!

Hot Pink Perfection: Behind the Scenes

Paula steals the limelight in a hot pink strapless two toned skin tight mini dress while promoting The X Factor. The form-fitting mini showed off Paula’s incredible legs and toned physique as she confidently posed for The Hollywood Reporter cover and inside feature on the show. I think that Paula looks amazing in this gorgeous hot pink dress which has a very young, fresh and contemporary feel and as you probably can tell by now it’s my favourite colour! I think that the colour of this dress looks great against her really dark skin and is bang on trend for Spring Summer Resort 2012. I am also in love with her long slightly messy, wavy hair which is very sexy without looking over styled. There has been a splattering of press reports lately (mostly written by women) that Paula is looking too skinny. Can I just say in my opinion, yes she is tiny but she is extremely toned and I think it actually really suits her especially with the type of clothes she is wearing. For me she seems to be back to her best and looking smoking in all these little dresses! What do you guys think of this look is it a hit or a miss?

Paula Showcases Her Latest Accessory

Paula appeared on Simon’s lap for this latest promo pic wearing the same 13,395 USD or 7,070 GBP Balmain pailette mini dress she wore for the X Factor promo and her recent feature in Emmy . This time she accessorized her high wattage look with an antique oversized cocktail ring but everything else from the hair down to the make up stayed the same.

The Timeless Style Of The LBD

This LBD dress Paula wore for The X Factor promo is an old fav of her’s as she also wore it for her series ‘Live To Dance’. Who says you can’t wear a dress more than once?

Hot trends from the Runway

Some hairstyles have a habit of dipping in and out of fashion, while others are so classic they never seem to date. One such trend is the 1960s Bridget Bardot, a half up bouffant hairstyle that Paula showcased at The 11th Annual Lupus LA Orange Ball with Pan Di Zucchero earrings.  She obviously really likes this brand as wore a pair with purple accents when arriving at the launch of The X Factor wearing a purple YSL dress.

Paula does Fetish

When a woman wants a pair of high bondage  heels, she’ll have them – even if it means surviving on Cup a Soup untill payday! From Louis Vuitton to Thierry Mugler, leather and high heels has ruled the runways. In vampish patent’s, cool bodice details and sexy secetary silhouettes, fetish fashion has been making it’s mark. We saw Paula getting a dominatrix makeover for this smokin photo shoot, indulging in a flirtation with all things fetish-inspired!

Paula wears Pirouette at the L.A Orange Ball

Paula wore a chunky bronze bridge bracelet to the 11th Annual Lupus L.A Orange Ball. Her fabulous ring full of diamonds is by the Italian  jewellery company Vhernier Pirouette.

Style Up Paula: Kane, MCQ & Audibert

This season the lady is a vamp and while she may be a temptress she is edgy too. I love these new pieces to stir up Paula’s wardrobe while promoting The X Factor to produce a really cool, edgy overall look. I adore this McQ’s seductive black stretch-satin corset top retailing at 220 GBP or 358 USD for it’s angular shape and parachute straps. The back of this corset is HOT with bondage straps all the way down the back. Paula should work this top after dark with this Christopher Kane crochet-effect leather skirt retailing at 1,565 or 2,545 USD an instant front row favourite, I’d finish off the look with stacks of statement gold jewelry like this multi strand necklace from Philippe Audibert at 470 GBP or 765 USD or perhaps some of Paula’s own gold jewelry from her collection which will really infuse the look with tons of attitude!

Paula Inside Emmy Magazine, August 2011

While the summer catwalks may be loaded with enough different looks and themes to satisfy almost any sort of style desire, the fashionable crowd invariably flocks to just a few select trends. Right now, feather is the word, and we’re seeing of-the-moment feathered details on a wide range of designer dresses.  Paula is leading the trend with this flirty looking Givenchy white halter dress with black feather skirt retailing at 745 GBP or 1,202 USD. I’ve always been a fan of feathers, especially feather dresses and Paula looks adorable while being  bang on trend. Paula paired her dress with Christian Louboutin silver snake skin pumps and went for a shaggy chignon hairstyle to show off the halterneck style of the dress and her earrings. The result is one Haute Couture ballerina with attitude!

Emmy Magazine, August 2011

Who says you shouldn’t wear a dress more than once? Are you kidding when it looks this good! Currently Paula has the pick of an enviable designer wardrobe, but an obvious favourite of her’s is the stunning black sequin Balmain Pailette mini dress she chooses again for the inside of Emmy Magazine. This little number might be thigh skimmingly short on her, but as I mentioned before costs a staggering 7, 070 GBP or 13,395 USD now sold out as from a seasons back and was extremely popular. She finishes off with one of her favourite pair’s of shoes, Christian Louboutin’s Lady Daf! The shoes actually are surprising comfortable because of the platform. I normally don’t find Mary Jane’s very sexy but there is something about these shoes that is screaming “SEXY” I have to say it’s definitely a must-have Spring shoe and looks amazing with this dress.

Style Up Paula: Blumarine

Whether it’s leopard blended with white, zebra turned into a maxi dress or bright snake patterns minis, even animal prints have had a sexy 1970s disco makeover this season. I love this floaty leopard print mini by Blumarine and think Paula would look amazing in this look with lots of gold chunky jewellery and lots of dark, messy, loose hair. Check it out on the catwalk at 5.35. In fact all the way through there are some super sexy, body con dresses which would look awsome on her. I loved the whole feel and energy of this show and it played some great tunes!

Paula Wears Ruthie Davis Odyssey Peep-Toe Pumps

Paula selected to wear these fierce Ruthie Davis Odyssey Peep-Toe Pumps to the FOX press confrence on August 5. Sadly these heels are no longer avaliable in store but retailed at 695 GBP or 1,137 USD.  This is the second time Paula has chosen to wear Ruthie Davis when selecting fabulous footwear for her X Factor appearances and you can see why when they are this original and fearless! Check out all Ruthie’s spring/summer 2011 heels here:

Paula at the FOX Star Party, August 5, 2011

Paula’s having quite the fashionable day attending the Fox Star Party in L.A  with her second change of the day. Looking chic in an ensemble of buff neutral tones from the Fall 2011 runway collection of Michael Kors which look wonderfully expensive when made up in silky trouser (pant) and shirts.  By Paula wearing the concept of soft flesh and buff cafe au lait and taupe tones her look takes on a relaxed understated luxury with ease, which is perfect for the evening.  The colours work so well with her skin tone and hair  Paula’s make up is faultless and it is important to avoid brightly-colored or dark lipstick when wearing a silk top or blouse with beige or nude tones. Instead Paula chooses to stick to paler, more natural peachy, bronze and pale pink shades and finish off her look with lashings of black mascara.

Paula at FOX’s TCA Summer Tour, August 5, 2011

It looks like Paula took inspiration today from Dolce & Gabbana’s summer 2011 collection entitled Sicilian Sensuality which was almost entirely in white. The collection had the signature sex appeal of the house made romantic by copiousness amounts of white lace. Paula choose to pair her innocent white look with edgier accessories including a black patent belt and a pair of fabulous rock n roll heels from  one of her favourite shoe designers Ruthie Davis. These heels are no longer avaliable in store so have been extremely popular. To finish off the look, Paula’s hair is styled with soft, loose, feminine  waves to match the feel of her outfit to create a overall fresh, innocent summer look. See Paula’s look here at the spring/summer 2011 show.

Style Up Paula: Miu Miu & Charlotte Olympia

I fell in love with this sequin embellished crepe dress by Miu Miu retailing at 2, 845 GBP or 4, 662 USD when I saw it on the catwalk as it had such a refined old style glamour of the 1940s about it. I could definitly see Paula wearing this dress with matte red lips and very long, loose hair aka Veronica Lake. I would take her hair quite a bit darker than it is currently which will really contrast with the red lipstick, add extensions for volume and finish off with these very high (6 inches) glamourous, velvet platform pumps from Charlotte Olympia’s current collection retailing at  590 GBP or 967 USD. Total  X Factor star glamour!

Paula on Rodeo Drive, July 2011

Paula stepped out in Beverly Hills yesterday looking chic in a Roberto Cavalli inspired camel-coloured leather jacket, tight-fitting jeans, over-sized sunglasses and massive crocodile tote while shopping on Rodeo Drive. Loving the glasses!

The X Factor USA Bootcamp, Los Angeles, July 23rd 2011

The white dress trend has blown up on the red carpet and now on the X Factor panel as both female judges choose to wear white for the bootcamp auditions. Paula kept it crisp, clean, sophisticated and slim fitting with her sleeveless knee length dress and her favourite brand of high Louboutin heels. This is great dress that can take you from a serious boardroom meeting to a sophisticated cocktail hour.  I’m a big fan of when Paula dresses like this and think her accessories and hair match the style of the dress perfectly. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Style Up Paula: Gucci Spring 2011

Glamour is back at Gucci with vibrant, tribal, get your party on dresses! These were embellished with metal, feathers and beads. I particularly loved the above short cocktail dresses, the intricate details are amazing and I can totally see Paula rockin one of these for the live shows or an interview. My favourite for her being the feathered, green halterneck dress that would look amazing with her colouring. Pair with simple heels as too many details on your dress and heels will give too many focal points and cut your length. Check out the gorgeous show for yourself and see my selection for Paula starting from around 10 minutes.

Style Up Paula: Matthew Williamson Spring 2012

Feathers flocked the couture runways in Paris this month but they are already popping up in Matthew Williamson’s spring 2012 collection and are slightly more wearable cocktail collection. I specifically love these two knockout dresses and think they would look fantastic on Paula in gold and black. See the complete collection here to the fantasic dance tune ‘Sun of a Gun ‘ by Oh Land’.

Style Up Paula: Hervé Léger & Charlotte Olympia

I love this Hervé Léger’s black bandage off-the-shoulder dress retailing at 707 GBP or 1,150 USD as it has a more sophisticated look from the brand’s perpetually popular signature sleeveless style. I can definitely see Paula wearing this dress for a chat show appearance with these wild, glamorous Charlotte Olympia Maxine leopard print calf hair sandals at 538 GBP or 875 USD for a sexy but fierce overall look.

Style Up Paula: Marchesa & Jimmy Choo

I love this striking ruffled silk and silk-organza cocktail dress by Notte by Marchesa at 489 GBP or 795 USD and could definitely see Paula in this. The colour is fashion forward and looks great against darks looks and its super short so great if you’re tiny. Pair with these fantastically high 6 inches Jimmy Choo Louisa suede platform sandals retailing at 490  GBP or 795 USD.  Great with this statement dress!

Style Up Paula: Balmain

If Paula is looking for the perfect dress for the live shows she should check out this video from Balmain’s 2009/10 collection. Though from a couple of seasons back there are a range of amazing high shoulders, low cuts and even a bit of disco thrown in! One of these fitted mini dresses with broad shoulders will be a show stopper when she makes her entrance on the live shows. My favourites for her would be at 0.49, 1.08 and 1.13. Can I just say Disco Week?

Paula Wears Balmain

Loaded with sequins, Paula wears Balmain’s show-stopping Pailette mini dress with black power-shoulders for an X Factor promo appearance. This dress is from Balmain’s 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection and retails at a huge 7,070 GBP or 13,395 USD! The ‘Paillette’ dress features black sequins all over, with a super plunging neckline, 3/4 sleeves and sharp shoulders. It could have looked over the top but Paula tamed it with simple jewellery and sleek hair. So, if you’re ever wondering how to wear sequins, just think back to Paula in Balmain!

The X Factor Promo Clip On Extra July 13th 2011

Sequins don’t have to look garish! Paula finally wears one of my absolute favorite designers – Christope Decarnin for Balmain and looks pretty dam sophisticated – even authoritative (although I think the shoulder pads may have something to do with it). This dress is INCREDIBLE on Paula, she has never looked so HOT and the look screams Bond Girl! Everything is right with this look and it’s my favorite dress she has worn so far throughout her X Factor appearances. Her make-up looks amazing, her hair looks beautiful and the choice of dress for her body is genius! Balmain should be on the top of her hit list when choosing designers for the live shows.

The X Factor Promo July 12th 2011

Who said that you can’t wear head-to-toe gold? Frida Giannini ,Gucci’s Creative Director, went back in time to the disco era for inspiration for her Fall 2006 runway collection. Micro-minis, plunging necklines, slim pantsuits and gold, gold, gold hit the runway. Paula chose to wear one of the collection’s most popular dresses (originally modelled by Supermodel Gemma Ward) for the X Factor promo and in fact has selected smartly as the 2012 Gucci Resort collection features mostly gold pieces again. See Paula’s dress rokin the catwalk at 4.00 minutes.

The X Factor USA Auditions, Seattle, 30 June 2011

One trend I haven’t been able to ignore this Spring is the use of tassels on everything from belts and bags to hemlines and necklines. Tassels have been made to stand out and have been all over the catwalks in 2011. They were first spotted on the Gucci and Louis Vuitton runways, to name just two. More recently, however, tassels have been spotted on a mass of celebrities. Paula choose to wear Gucci for the last day’s filming in Seattle selecting a satin-jersey sleeveless wrap-effect dress with a heavy stretch-crepe black skirt and scarf-style detail at the neck. The tasseled scarf detail adds a glamourous bohemian twist to this signature style Gucci dress. The dress retails at 900 GBP or 1,400 USD. If you love Paula’s dress it’s currently in the sale from net-a-porter for 450 GBP or 725 USD. I like the fact Paula has gone for a more elegant, grown up look than some of her earlier style selections. The top of this dress reminds me of the dress designed by Leanne Marshall she wore in New Jersey and as on TV you only really get to see the top half of Paula’s outfit I may have chosen a different look only for variation. I  love this similar burnt orange Gucci dress ( http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/115293)

The X Factor USA Auditions, Seattle, 29 June 2011

If anyone thinks not wearing color is boring, they haven’t seen the striped styles this season. McQueen, Christian Lacroix, Elie Saab, and Herve Leger all know it—black and white stripes and animal prints are a strong look this season. Paula rocked a shorter than short Balmain zebra print mini in Seattle and follows the current trend on the catwalks for  long straight tresses which are making a huge comeback!

Shooting in Miami

Bye-bye, black. This season, designers have delved into an eye-popping paintbox of shades. It’s head to toe tonal or clashing colour blocking all the way. Paula shows us how to do it whilst keeping the look cute and wearable in blue. Recreate Paula’s blue satin skirt look with this high street copy from Oasis retailing at a steal for 45 GBP or 75 USD.

Paula wearing Christian Louboutin Lady Daf Pumps

Lady Daf Christian Louboutin’s 688 GBP or 1,100 USD

The X Factor USA Auditions, Seattle, 28 June 2011

Lady in Red! Paula has scored high in the style steaks every time she has worn red and today was no different in a strapless red lace dress with drape detailing on bodice and black exposed lining and hidden zip by Dolce Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection retailing at 1,265 GBP or 2,032 USD. I have seen this dress on a range of celebrities and I have to say Paula wears this dress the best. The dress makes her look sophisticated and sexy and I love the way it clings to every inch of her curves.  I like the simplicity of her hair keeping it long, dark and wavy with simple jewellery. Now on to those killer shoes! Paula accessorised with sky high black patent Lady Daf Christian Louboutin’s retailing at 688 GBP or 1,100 USD and I can’t really think there could have been a better way to compliment the dress! Overall look femme fatale!

The X Factor USA Auditions, Dallas, 22 June 2011

Floral dresses have become one of the biggest trends of 2011 which has seen bright botanicals, oriental blooms and ditsy prints all over the catwalk from designers such as Jil Sander, Erdem, Kenzo, Vivienne Westwood, Mui Mui, Dries Van Noten, and Antonia Marras. Paula was spotted wearing this super cute floral dress with statement necklace to give the dress a harder edge in Dallas today.

The X Factor USA Auditions, Dallas, 21 June 2011

Paula’s white and black collar mini has been causing me a bit of a dilemma. Ever since I saw her strut into the auditions in Dallas, I can’t make up my mind if it’s a hit or a miss. There’s part of me that loves it. It’s cute, on trend with the collar, the colours are great against her skin and her legs look fab! What I’m struggling with it has the look of a dress you might see on a cocktail waitress.  For me the dress makes Paula’s top half look slightly boxy and that is due to the high collar, halterneck style and because she is so tiny. The bottom half of the dress is much better because it really shows off her tiny waist and is fun but structured. I think it also probably one of those dresses that look much better in the flesh than it does in print. Paula has gotten it really right with her make up with a little colour on the cheeks and on the lips and emphasising her eyes with lots of black liner. This time her hair isn’t my favourite as it is a little severe pushed back but matches the cutness of the overall look she is aiming for. Finally, if you’re looking for a similar dress to Paula’s this new black and white dress from ASOS at 40 GBP  or 82 USD  is a great match to get the look.

The X Factor USA Trailer Shoot, Miami, June 2011

Wow! Paula looks absoloutly incredible whilst shooting the upcoming X Factor trailer. She knows  when it’s time to shine and how to steal the show in this notice- me- now  teany tiny metallic mini dress – the perfect complement to all those platinum records! She led the X Factor judges in the style wars in this thigh high disco ball pink mini showing off every inch of those legs! She styled the sparkly mini with dramatic, long,  summery flowing hair, Bambou Oyster Metal Patent Calf Christian Louboutin’s retailing at 495 GBP or 789 USD, long earrings, stacked gold bracelets and a blingin cocktail ring. Now, look at her make up, she opts for radiant skin that glows, shimmery bronze shadow that opens up her eyes, long,  looking lashes and a juicy, peach lip. And that body! Wow, Paula looks fantastic! It definitely looks  like Paula has been doing some serious workouts as she looked phenomenal in her  body conscious pink sequin dress. Whatever you’re doing, Paula, keep it up! To achieve Paula’s X rated gorgeous glow this all over short, sequin dress  by Tibi is a great match retailing at 230 GBP  or 370 USD from Bloomingdales.  Add a pair of nude platforms and let the catwalk begin!

The X Factor USA Auditions, Miami, 15th June 2011

If there’s one trend that has emerged this summer from the catwalks and hit the high street is polka dots. Paula squeezed herself into a sexy but mostly girly polka dot dress for the second round in Miami, which she accented with a black belt and necklace. Since spots can be classed as part of the nautical trend you will find lots of spots in navy, black and white and coming in a variety of styles. If you remember it was Cheryl Cole who was first ‘spotted’ in polka dots in Chicago? She wore a white polka dot shift dress by Sonia Rykiel  retailing at 304 GBP or 486 USD and a pair of t-strap spotted Marc Jacobs wedges retailing at 395 GBP or 631 USD which in my view were slightly overkill in creating the overall look. What I think is great about the polka dot dress Paula is wearing is the way it has been accesorised. I love the chunky gold Egyptian bracelet, the black & gold belt that fits perfectly with her black Louboutin heels. The overall look is fun & girly but also has an air of  ‘I can kick ass’ when I need to – I can see a lot of Fashion Editor’s I know wearing this look to work.  If you want to recreate Paula’s look there are hundreds of spotted dresses on the high street, I really like this Tiered Spotted Dress from Jaeger which was 330 GBP or 527 USD to 199 GBP or 317 USD. Like Paula pair with gold accessories and perhaps tan sandals for the day time and killer black heels in the evening.

The X Factor USA Auditions, Miami, 14th June 2011

Paula achieves another style hit with this mini white & turquoise bustier dress, perfect for the Miami heat and a bit of dancing after dark at Soho House Miami! I’m not 100% sure who designed this dress but if I had to place a bet I would say it has the style of Leanne Marshall again. The corset top shows off Paula’s rockin arms and back at the moment which are super toned & tanned. Jealous anyone? Both my hand’s are up! But what really stands out for me today apart from her dress is her healthy, summer, tousled hair & glowing, bronzed, cat-eye make up.  I sat down with Jo Adams, hair & make up artist to the stars over coffee on how to go about creating Paula’s gorgeous looks from today and got her to share her secrets with me. ‘’To get Paula’s beautiful tousled hair I recommend first using a great styling product to protect your hair (and preserve your style) such as L’oreal’s hot iron creme. Tong sections of your hair, wind loosely around your fingers and pin each section, leaving it to cool whilst you apply your make up. Paula’s skin literally glows. Sisley’s radiant immediate lift is a divine product which will revive even the tiredest of complexions. Smooth on before your base, chose a light dewy base like Clinique’s new moisture surge tinted moituriser – a must for the Miami climes with spf 15. Try Nars blush in gina for peachy cheeks like Paula’s. If your a lover of faking those killer lashes with falsies, you’ll be wanting to nurture you own delicate lashes with a treatment mascara like Sisley’s phyto mascara ultra stretch.  After kohling the eyes for maximum impact, a neutral lipliner like Sisley’s nude phyto levres perfect with a dash of phyto lip eclat in hibiscus, nourishers and plumps lips. Next un pin hair, apply label M resurrection style dust to the roots and voila, sexy undone waves!’

Handbag tip – Mac blotting sheets to keep red carpet shine banished!

Steal Paula’s Style

I loved the look Paula did on the second day in New Jersey, so I decided to show you how to recreate her stylish, high-fashion look without spending a fortune or stepping out of the high street. Whilst I was shopping on Fouberts Place in Soho for another client I found this cute but still structured hot pink Bessie Scuba Lantern Mini Dress by Aqua for 145 GBP or 236 USD http://www.aquabyaqua.com/ It is slightly brighter than Paula’s but still features a round neckline, fitted bodice, structured skirt with pleat details, concealed zip closure to back and sleeveless styling. I sometimes use Aqua for my music clients and teen magazines as they push the boundaries with their unique stand out designs. They are never trend led and produce structural, fashion forward dresses and jumpsuits with a futuristic twist, creating a collection primarily comprising of embellished pieces with strong accentuated lines. It’s the kind of brand Lady Gaga would have loved and embellished before she could afford couture. Next I found myself in Carvela and came across a style of shoes called ‘Assess’. I’m sure these shoes have been designed loosely on Paula’s Christian Louboutin’s as they combine the same coloures, buckles and even better they are in the sale from 140 GBP / 228 USD to 89 GBP / 145 USD – total steal! To finish off this look and to really get Paula’s shoe style, purchase a set of Swarovski rhinestones and stick them all over the back of the heel and on the back of the shoe. This can be done with really strong, hot glue onto the flat back of the rhinestones. Use tweezers onto the shoe and into the position. Let the glue dry completely overnight before you move the shoes or wear them. It really works and looks super effective.

The X Factor USA Auditions – Newark, New Jersey – 09 June 2011

Where do I start writing about how much I love this look? Paula scored high in the style stakes when she attended the New Jersey auditions today in this eye-popping hot pink dress made by Leanne Marshall (again) It’s not hard to see why Leanne made this dress for Paula. The dress shows off her tiny waist, the hot pink colour looks great against her honey skin tone and the Eighties style puffball hem showed off her long, slim legs. I love that the dress is in hot pink (my fav colour) and that it has structure but still is cute and whimsical to match Paula’s personality. Ponytails are back in a big way for fall/winter 2010-2011, proving once again their versatility and timeless character. The ponytail was the star on the catwalks appearing in so many styles and shapes.  This pony with the sweeping fringe by Paula is a smart choice when it comes to choosing a comfortable and stylish hairstyle as it offers a childish, yet sexy look.  And how can I not mention those heels? Of course they are Christian Louboutin’s and are sky-scraping high at 6″! They are totally outrageous but soooo beautiful. They were from two seasons back and are called The Ambertina and have a 1 1/2″ metallic platform and just in case that isn’t enough, Louboutin added a cranberry satin to further brighten the look which matches Paula’s dress perfectly. They can still be brought from Louboutin stores for 585 GBP or 949 USD. Be warned though unless you are an expert walker with a capital ‘E’ in heels these should carry a safety warning – perhaps better left for the bedroom ;)

The X Factor USA Auditions – Newark, New Jersey – 08 June 2011

This stunning gold dress is designed by the wonderfully talented Leanne Marshall who has designed for Paula before (an equally cute short red dress) and I hope will get the opportunity to do so again and again. This dress has a Grecian or Romanesque feel about it from the golden colour which is subtle to complement the smoothness and shade of her skin to the soft, draped romantic material with the sash giving definition while wearing flowy fabric. The back is back in 2011 and celebrities have been pictured all over the red carpets wearing backless dresses. Paula is wearing this lavishly low back dress really well, showing plenty of skin and the way she is wearing her hair slightly bigger, wilder and messier complements the feel of this dress. I’ve never seen Paula looking better in the last month. Her overall style has really stepped up a gear and she is looking HOT. Praise to her glam squad they are doing a fantastic job. This dress actually reminds me of a similar style gold dress I brought back in a/w 2009 from of all places Monsoon (pictured above) for 135 GBP 219 USD for the Christmas party season when Grecian was all over the catwalks and in the shops. Like Paula’s it has no back and is still hanging in my cupboards – humm time for a hunt through and a new outing!

Style Up Paula: Dolce & Gabbana

Watching Milan Fashion Week, it was hard to miss Dolce and Gabbana present their stunning new collection for Autumn/Winter 2011/2012. The catwalk was transfered into an Eighties nightclub with sequins and black and white star print stretchy dresses with lace panels everywhere. I fell in love with the collection straight away and could definitely see Paula in the designs for the auditions or the live shows. What better motif to kick of the US X Factor live shows than a dress full of stars? As Stefano Gabbana replied when asked why the decorative motif was used ‘because all women are stars’. Above are my picks that I can see Paula in. I love the cute, frilly mini dress paired with black heels instead of brogues and would edit out the oversized gold star earring and replace with gold hoops to make sure the look has an element of sophistication. I think the navy star top with embellished gold mini skirt would be amazing on Paula when doing interviews and show off her tiny body and toned legs. The white knee length star print & lace dress is totally va va voom especially if you have Sicilian looks and lots of long dark hair worn down.

In Paula’s Closet – Alexander McQueen May 2011

Paula is having a hot affair with Mcqueen at the moment wearing more than one of his designs in red in as many weeks. This time its Mcqueen’s red flower print silk chiffon top retailing at 475 GBP or 783 USD from Liberty’s which looks great against her bold white trousers. You can find a similar design at TOPSHOP with this red Chinese Print Bell Sleeve Blouse retailing for the total steal of 40 GBP or 66 USD.

Launch of Universal Studios in Singapore May 2011

Every fashionable wardrobe needs a little black lace dress and it’s perfect for a great night out. Paula selected to wear a sexy black lace dress for the launch of Universal Studios in Singapore which oozed sophisticated charm and elegance.  I love the delicate pattern of the lace, the buttons down the front and the glitzy black belt to elevate the look. What works in Paula’s favour is also perhaps the way she accessories the simple yet elegant dress. She wore gold earrings and a black clutch. Her half pulled back hair style, smoky eye makeup with silver glitter at the sides. Her dress reminds me of the D&G black shift with a stretch-silk slip which retails at 545 GBP or 897 USD at Dolce & Gabbana. If I was to funk-up this LBD I would choose a pair of high leopard print heels from designer Charlotte Olympia who makes GORGEOUS shoes!

Style Up Paula: Chloe & Christopher Kane

When worn right, nothing looks more foxy and chic than a leather dress. I love this nude Chloe whipstitch dress which features a full skater skirt with slits at the sides and a concealed zip at back. It’s a dress I could definitely see Paula in for auditions and a really cool way to work leather this season. It retails at 2,065 GBP or 3,379 USD. I’d pair it with these beautiful, eye-popping, fashion-forward 5 inch beige leather, hot-pink trims from Christopher Kane retailing at 435 GBP or 712 USD.  This dress looks best with dark skin, long, wavy beach hair and tanned, sun-kissed make up. Both items can be purchased at net a porter or at the designers respected stores.

The X Factor USA Auditions – Chicago – 19 May 2011

Mix & match is a big trend for 2011 and this floral and leopard print dress by Dolce & Gabbana is a great example of how you can keep mix matched prints edgy but still look sexy. Dolce & Gabbana designs are all about making women feel sexy, shapely, confident and above all Mediterranean which I think Paula embodies really well here. I’ve seen this dress in the flesh and because of the print clash combo photographs don’t always do it justice and it wouldn’t be for everyone. It has a secret hidden back zipper and makes you feel very feline as it’s very silky against your skin. The dress retails at 796 GBP or 1,289.00 USD. I love thats she’s giving the Sergio Rossi nude pumps another outing too!

Paula loves her Sergio Rossi Platform Slingbacks

It’s the new staple heel available in a variety of colors from aubergine to baby blue and comes in many different textures such as leather, satin and suede. Paula is wearing the Sergio Rossi patent nude cachet slingback platform heel retailing at 495 GBP or 695 USD. I can see why she LOVES this heel it works with a ton of different looks and the design of the shape and height really compliment the leg. You can buy Paula’s shoes at Neiman Marcus.

2011 Fox Upfront – 16 May 2011

Paula looks AMAZING with a capital ‘A’ in this dress and it’s perfect for her exotic looks and body shape. The ‘A’ is also a huge clue to who designed this dress – the great Alexander McQueen. You can tell this because of the colour (his signature colour!) angular, padded shoulders and a zip all the way down the front. BTW her hair is the best I’ve EVER seen it –I love it long and dark like this and it really suits her face shape. Credit goes to Paula‘s hairstylists, Mark Hasche and Peter DeRosa, who own the Peter Mark Salon in Del Ray beach. I’d say they are a definite keeper ;)

Get The Look

I used this ‘Lucile’ Roland Mouret crepe wool dress recently in a fashion editorial and it strikes me how similar it is to the McQueen Paula wore. In the flesh this dress feels really sexy on with a deep V-neck and pleated cap sleeves and makes you look & feel like ‘a total temptress’. You can still buy it at Browns and costs 1,550.00 GBP or 1,876 USD.

The X Factor USA Auditions – L.A 2nd Round 9 May 2011

Check out Paula’s fierce shoes they are from RUTHIE DAVIS  and are the Sushi Rock & Roll peep-toe pump style, priced at 1,095 USD. This style is from the Fall 2010 collection and is unfortunately sold out at many online stores. The result is true rock chic style. I know a certain Miss Moss would love these.

Style Up Paula: Temperley & ALC

I love these black high waisted leather shorts by Alice by Temperley retailing at 340 GBP or 549 USD they would look amazing on Paula with her Ruthie Davis shoes, black tights and a chic black and white striped vest top by ALC retailing at 585 GBP or 949 USD to show off her toned arms. In the evening pair with a black silk blazer and red nails. I love this Theory blazer retailing at 365 GBP or 575 USD. The whole look is edgy, laid back and very cool.

The X Factor USA Auditions – Press Event 8 May 2011

Paula is wearing Yves Saint Laurent. Her dress is from their commercial collection and is made out of draped silk-satin with balloon sleeves. It kind of reminds me of a glamourous take on 70’s redux. I actually have the dress in green and didn’t know they did a purple version (green with envy springs to mind ;) If the dress is still available (it’s proven very popular) it can be brought in most Yves Saint Laurent shops around the world for the price of 875 GBP or 1,390 USD.

Steal Paula’s Style

If you love Paula’s Yves Saint Laurent dress but don’t quite have the budget this purple silk cocktail dress by Halston Heritage is a great match to recreate the look. Even better it’s currently in the sale and retails at 157 GBP or 253 USD from www.stylebop.com.

Paula at T Mobile Celebrates the launch of the New SideKick

I’ve always LOVED this dress it’s by Temperley London and I wasn’t quick enough to purchase one in time when it first came out. In the flesh its soooo cute and great if you have like Paula a dancer’s physique and toned legs. It’s got to be one of my favourite’s Alice has designed over the last couple of seasons and the amount of detail that has gone into the design is incredible. The dress is a mini ‘Selena’ from her AW08 collection and retailed at 790 GBP & 1,695 USD. Beware though this dress is s-h-o-r-t and shows off every inch of your legs – bronzes and moisturizers at the ready!

Paula at the 16th Annual InterContinental Miami Make a Wish Ball

When I first saw Paula in this dress I thought it was either Herve Leger (Paula would look great in their new collection) but it’s a bit too sparkly for them or Ashish (again does dazzling one shoulder evening pieces to show off a tight body) but it’s from Jean Fares Couture 2010.

American Idol Season 9 Finale

I heart this dress by Lloyd Klein Couture for three reasons. Firstly the colour HOT PINK, is there a better colour on tanned skin and a hot body? It reminds me of dancing the night away at pool parties, David LaChapelle and drinking my favourite cocktails with my friends! Secondly it manages to stay very cute and feminine whilst still be very sexy – très smart in design. Lastly, if you’re looking to make an entrance and have everyone’s eyes on you and you’re a ‘tiny person’ (Kylie does this brilliantly) always think three words: mini, tight and cocktail – you’ll wipe the floor with the competition.

Style Up Paula: Kaufmanfranco

I saw this mini dress by Kaufmanfranco the other day and fell instantly in love with it. It’s covered in midnight blue sequins and feels like liquid against your body. I think Paula would look incredible in this dress. Paired with gold hoop earrings and with long slightly messy, wavy hair and perhaps a high pair of Gucci or Miu Miu heels this screams 2011 disco.  I love this look! This Kaufmanfranco dress retails at 2,465 GBP or 3,985 USD.
